The popular application WhatsApp has introduced a new Chat Lock feature that will make it easier for users to manage private chats. Locked chats will be newly stored in a folder that will be protected by a password or biometric data.
Notifications from these chats will not display the message content or the sender’s name. Mark Zuckerberg reported on the news on Facebook.
The new update will be especially useful for those who have to share their phone with other people. Newly, the WhatsApp application itself will be locked and it will only be possible to unlock it using biometric data.
“We plan to expand Chat Lock over the next few months with additional options including locking additional devices and creating a custom password for chats so you can use a unique password that’s different from your phone password,” writes Meta on blog.
