WhatsApp introduces animated stickers from GIPHY

WhatsApp recently announced an update that aims to make conversations even more personal and fun. The app now offers animated stickers from GIPHY, the popular GIF platform that was previously owned by Meta.

Integration of GIPHY stickers

“People love using stickers to express themselves and add personality and fun to their chats. Sometimes a sticker can express emotions and moods better than words,” Meta explained in a blog post. Previously, WhatsApp users could already send GIFs via GIPHY. With the new update, they can now also search for animated stickers from GIPHY and share them directly in the app. This integration makes it possible to find and share relevant and engaging stickers without having to leave the app.

To send an animated GIPHY sticker on WhatsApp, simply tap the sticker button and search for a suitable sticker using text or an emoji.

More new features for WhatsApp

In addition to animated stickers, WhatsApp is now bringing the Custom Sticker Maker to Android. This feature was originally introduced on iOS and allows users to turn their photos into personalized stickers. It is also expanding the availability of AI stickers to more users worldwide. In addition, it is now easier to preview a sticker pack before downloading it.
