It’s easy to think that we’ll never fall into one of those traps we see in internet, who seek to obtain our data for various purposes. Even the smartest of users can fall into a cyber scam which can lead to serious privacy issues. Therefore, it is necessary to know all the security methods to protect our WhatsApp account.
In this sense, you should know that WhatsApp has two-step verification, an important function that will prevent any stranger from accessing your conversations on the platform. This tool is available on both an Android phone and an iPhone.
How to enable WhatsApp two-step verification?
When you turn on WhatsApp 2-Step Verification, you have the option to enter an email address. This allows the messaging app to send you a link to reset your PIN via email in case you forget it, and it also helps protect your account. To do so, follow these steps:
- Opens WhatsApp on your phone and press the three dots icon located in the upper right corner of the screen.
- From the drop-down menu, go to ‘Settings’ and tap on ‘Account’.
- Here you will see the two-step verification, which you must press. Next, click on the ‘Enable’ option.
- Next, you must enter a six-digit PIN of your choice and confirm it. Make sure to save the key somewhere, as WhatsApp will ask you to enter it every time you reinstall it.
- Once you enter your six-digit PIN, you will be prompted to enter it again. With that, you have finished the process.
If you want to disable two-step verification, you must follow the same. Simply, go to ‘Settings’, and Account Verification in two steps.
