These words are very typical of the TV series Mission Impossible. Well, there are similarities in how WhatsApp’s new features work.
If in the film Mission Impossible the recording will be destroyed in 5 seconds, then in WhatsApp it will immediately disappear when the recipient presses the message icon from the sender. This feature is Voice Messages.
For your information, WhatsApp has introduced the One View feature for photos and videos in 2021 with the aim of adding a layer of privacy to user messages.
Now, the Voice Message feature has been released so that users can send messages in voice form to the target person, then they will automatically disappear after listening.
This feature is great for sharing your credit card details with friends, or when you’re planning a surprise, so you can now share sensitive information via voice message without worry.
“To be consistent with One View photos and videos, once heard Voice Messages will be marked with a ‘one time’ icon, and can only be played once,” said WhatsApp, in its official statement, Saturday, December 9 2023.
As with all private messages, WhatsApp protects Voice Messages with end-to-end encryption (end-to-end encryption). The Voice Message feature will be rolled out globally in the coming days.
Previously, WhatsApp officially introduced additional functions in the form of secret codes for features Chat Lock or Secret Lock which allows users to lock chats with a secret code so that they can better protect user privacy.
This secret code can be an additional measure of protection so that later related chats become more difficult to find by other people who have access to the cellphone, or when the user shares the cellphone with other people.
With a secret code, users can set a unique password that is different from the one they use to unlock their phone to provide an extra layer of privacy to locked chats.
