WhatsApp group invitation No more invitations to WhatsApp groups – what can I do?

Sure, you can leave the WhatsApp group directly – now also in such a way that nobody except the group administrator notices. But of course it would be much better if you were not automatically invited to such a group in the first place! And you can (much like you can simply block certain phone numbers).

WhatsApp group: Delete automatic invitation – here’s how

  • 1. Launch WhatsApp
  • 2. Go to Settings
  • 3. Open the item “Privacy”
  • 4. Type “Groups”
  • 5. Here you can now specify who can and cannot automatically add you to WhatsApp groups in the future.

You have the choice between…

– “All”: Anyone can automatically add you to a WhatsApp group. So also people who are not in your contact list at all.

– “My contacts”: All people who are in your contact list can invite you to a group.

– “My contacts except …”: Here you can select individual people in your contact list who are not allowed to add you to a new WhatsApp group without being asked.

WhatsApp group: completely ban invitation

You don’t want to be automatically added to a WhatsApp group by absolutely anyone anymore? Unfortunately, WhatsApp does not offer a “Nobody” option, although the Facebook group announced this years ago. But you can help yourself with a little trick. Select “My contacts except…” – and then click “select all contacts” in the contact list on the right. Now nobody can add you to a WhatsApp group without asking. Important: This only applies to the people who are currently in your contact list. Not for future!

Now you have determined who can and cannot automatically invite you to a WhatsApp group. Nevertheless, you don’t miss anything: If someone you have blocked wants to add you to a new WhatsApp group, you can still do so. But he has to ask you explicitly for permission – and you have to confirm that. If you decline – or simply ignore the request – this group will have to do without you 😉
