Messages can thus be changed again after they have been sent.
The innovation in one blog post was announced, should bring relief to anyone who has ever been annoyed by the message they just sent to a crush, friend or colleague. In the future, the content of sent texts can be easily corrected.
Change WhatsApp messages: how does the feature work?
WhatsApp will allow changes up to 15 minutes after sending. To do this, you have to hold down a sent message and then edit it, WhatsApp said. The recipient then sees the note “Edited”, but cannot track what was edited – unless the person saw the message immediately.
The company, which belongs to the Facebook parent company Meta, announced that the innovation should be available worldwide in the coming weeks. Since last year, Apple has been able to edit or withdraw messages to other iPhone users, i.e. iMessages. However, the recipients can track the changes.
WhatsApp launches extra protection for intimate chats
The function is the third innovation in a short time. Just a few days ago it became known that the messenger service is introducing a password lock for individual chats. Protected with the “Chat Lock” feature, it can only be opened with an additional password or face recognition. In addition, the chat no longer sends notifications.
In April, WhatsApp also announced that accounts can be used on multiple phones in the future. This should work in the same way as with laptops: On the second smartphone, you call up web.whatsapp.com and then scan the QR code that is displayed there.
It remains to be seen whether the innovations will have a positive effect on security and data protection or whether they will offer new opportunities for WhatsApp scammers. In any case, you should keep in mind the warning from the police and consumer protection against fraud via the messenger.
