The official renaming has to do with the new corporate structure.
A few years ago, Facebook renamed its subsidiaries WhatsApp and Instagram. Since then, the two services are officially called “WhatsApp from Facebook” and “Instagram from Facebook”. With this, company founder Mark Zuckerberg wanted to strengthen the togetherness of the in-house offers and thereby make a possible break-up more difficult.

The official name is still “WhatsApp from Facebook”.
Meta for all corporate services
Since last week, however, the IT group has been called Meta. Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Metaverse and Co. are “only” subsidiaries. And the new name of the parent company now also affects the official name of the subsidiaries. These will be renamed with one of the next updates.
WhatsApp will then be officially called “WhatsApp from Meta”, Instagram will be renamed “Instagram from Meta”. It is quite possible that the term “Facebook from Meta” will soon also be found in the official Facebook app. The new names have no effect on users. The services also work as usual under the “meta” umbrella.
Inklusive Logo
While there was no additional logo for the designation “WhatsApp from Facebook”, it looks different with “WhatsApp from Meta”. As WABetaInfo reports, in addition to the new additional designation, the meta logo can also be seen in the app of the messenger service. This will also be the case with Instagram and Co. There, however, always in the right color. It can already be seen in the latest beta version of WhatsApp:
