WhatsApp gets a feature to choose who is shown ‘Last seen’ – Tablets and phones – News

Chat app WhatsApp gets a function to exclude people from showing the ‘Last seen’ status. This is evident from the latest beta version of the app for Android. It is unknown when the stable version of the app will get this feature.

The new feature is under the Last Seen setting under Settings, Account and then Privacy, reports WABetaInfo. There were already the options to show this status to no one, only contacts, or all users. In the beta, the option ‘My contacts except…’ will be added, allowing users to hide their Last Seen status from specific WhatsApp contacts.

The feature works both ways: users also won’t be able to see when the excluded contacts were last online. It is the first time that users can exclude contacts from Last Seen.

WhatsApp is currently testing the feature with a limited number of testers and not all beta users, WABetaInfo reports. That group will grow in the coming releases, the site thinks. It is unknown when the feature will be available to all users.
