REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The popular messaging application, WhatsApp, will reportedly stop working on several cellphones Android and iPhone starting next week. WhatsApp ends support for some older smart models starting October 24, 2023.
According to several online reports, the list of outdated smartphones includes 18 phones from Samsung, LG and others. “Starting October 24, 2023, only Android OS version 5.0 and later will be supported,” said WhatsApp on its support page, it was reported The Times of IndiaMonday (16/10/2023).
The support page also states that to keep up with the latest technological advances, WhatsApp routinely stops supporting older operating systems to direct their resources towards supporting the latest operating systems. “If we stop supporting your operating system, you will be notified and reminded several times to upgrade your device to continue using WhatsApp. “We will also update this page regularly to ensure that the latest Android versions that we support are listed here,” explained WhatsApp.
