JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – WhatsApp has re-launched a new feature that allows users to set messages in chats so that they can be deleted automatically within a certain period of time.

This feature, called Disappearing Messages, gives users the option to activate the feature and choose a specific time period.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a post on Facebook announced that chats can disappear within a period of 24 hours, 7 days, to 90 days.

“We’re rolling out a new disappearing message option on WhatsApp today. So you can make all chats disappear by default after 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days,” Zuckerberg wrote, Monday (12/6/2021).

Previously, the Disappearing Messages feature was actually launched in November last year.

However, the user does not have the option of how long the message disappears. At that time messages can only disappear within 7 days.

WhatsApp confirms that when a user starts a chat with a friend and wants to activate this feature, a notification will appear so that the other person doesn’t consider it a unilateral decision.

Users can also disable the feature for private chats.
