WhatsApp: create a group

Select new group

Such a group can contain up to 1,024 members. To create them, start WhatsApp, something like our example on an Android smartphone. Then tap on the tab Chats on the three vertical dots at the top right. In the menu that opens now, go to New group. Alternatively, you can click the new chat icon and then click New group tap.

Add contacts

You will then see a list of your contacts available on WhatsApp. You can now select these with a tap of your finger and add them to the group. Your selection will appear on a separate line above. You must select at least one person, which means you cannot create an empty group and add people later.

When you’ve set all the group participants this way, tap the right-pointing arrow at the bottom. Enter a subject in the next dialog. This can have a maximum of 25 characters and serves as a group name that all members can see. In addition, the subject can be provided with an emoji using the smiley icon. If you tap on the camera symbol, you can also add a group picture.

After you’ve got everything set up the way you want it, tap the check mark button at the bottom. The group of people you selected will immediately receive an invitation notification for the group.

Once the group has been successfully created, you can also add people who are not in your contact list. To do this, open the group chat, then tap the subject and select Invite with link. However, you should note that anyone who knows the link can join your WhatsApp group at any time – without you as the group admin having to give your approval.

Products: The trick works with WhatsApp version 2.23.4.79 for Android. The procedure may differ in other versions. (ad)
