As the name suggests, this feature allows a number of groups on WhatsApp, which may be related to each other and have the same topic, to be accommodated in a large group like a group. community.

WhatsApp Product Manager, Jyoti Sood said this feature aims to make it easier for users to discuss with other groups who have the same interest, as well as organize existing groups according to the topic.

Community allows users or group admins to easily manage their various groups that have similar topics, while increasing interaction between groups within the same community,” Sood told KompasTekno in a virtual event Wednesday (13/4/2022).

Sood then describes how this Community feature will work on WhatsApp in the future.

A school principal, for example, can combine several small groups such as individual class groups, teachers’ groups, extracurricular groups, and so on into a large group called “School”.

Likewise with a large “Restaurant” group which can contain small groups such as a chef group, a group discussing food ingredients, to a receptionist group, as illustrated in the following image.
