JawaPos.com – Old-school iPhone users must be prepared to lose plans. Because, WhatsApp plans to stop support for some iOS devices on older iPhones. This is because the instant messaging company will no longer work with iPhones running iOS 10 and iOS 11 starting later this year.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has issued a notification asking iPhone users to install the latest Operating System or OS version supported by their device to continue using the app after October 24. For information, the current devices running iOS 10 and 11 are the iPhone 5 and 5c.
“WhatsApp will stop supporting this iOS version after 24 Oct 2022. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update to get the latest iOS version,” the notification reads as quoted from 9to5Mac.
Should immediately move to a newer device, users who are still using this iPhone will not be able to use WhatsApp from October. Those with an iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, or iPhone 6s running iOS 12 need not worry for now, as the company will continue to support them.
Additionally, in the WhatsApp Help Center, the company has also stated iPhone users must be running iOS 12 or later in order to continue using the app. Android users, for example, need OS 4.1 or later.
For Apple itself, they are scheduled to hold a Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in the near future. At the developer meeting, they seem to be introducing iOS 16.
