The short message service WhatsApp is one of the most popular products of its kind and flickers across millions of screens every day. The standard view is likely to cause some boredom in many cases. In order to spice up the design of the application, the Meta subsidiary is now planning a visual makeover.
Custom designs for WhatsApp chats
Like that Online magazine WABetaInfo reported that users will be able to set up individual chat interfaces for the app if required. The functionality goes beyond simply setting up background images – it affects the color schemes of the menus and the color of the speech bubbles. In addition, users can also adjust the brightness of the interface independently of the general brightness setting of the device.

Update comes with design profiles
The selected settings can then be set up as the new app standard and used in all conversations. If you don’t want to set your own themes, you can use one of the eleven standard design alternatives – these consist of backgrounds and matching color settings. The feature is currently in WhatsApp’s beta test program and is probably only being worked on for Android for the time being. An iOS version is probably planned, however. It is not known when the corresponding updates will be released.
