WhatsApp Announces New Feature: Pin Messages in Chats and One View Voice Notes

JawaPos.com – WhatsApp, Meta’s instant messaging platform, has again announced the presence of its newest feature. This time, WhatsApp announced the ability to pin messages in WhatsApp chats. This feature is now rolling out to users.

“With pinned messages, you can easily highlight important messages in group or individual chats. This helps save users time to find relevant messages more easily,” explained a WhatsApp representative in his statement.

All types of messages like text, polls, images, emojis and more can be embedded. WhatsApp also claims that all pinned messages remain covered by end-to-end encryption protection.

The way to ‘Pin’ a message is also very easy. First, users can long press on a message, and select ‘Pin’ from the context menu. A banner will appear to select the duration of the pinned message – 24 hours, seven days, and 30 days).

Seven days is the default choice. In group chats, admins have the option to choose whether all members or only admins can pin messages.

A few days ago, WhatsApp also announced that users can now send voice messages or Voice Notes which can only be played once. This feature is similar to what already exists for photo and video content, where to maintain user privacy, the sender can set it for one viewing only.

The One View or View Once feature was introduced in 2021. The goal is to give users more control over their privacy, allowing photos, videos, and now voice messages to disappear after being viewed once.

Previously, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, officially announced the secret code for chat locks on WhatsApp. Known as Chat Lock, this feature is an additional layer of privacy to protect user conversations that may be sensitive.

Once a passcode is created, it can be used to hide locked chats so they only appear when typed in the search bar. This was announced by Mark Zuckerberg via his WhatsApp Channel.
