WhatsApp Adds Optional Feature to Share Status Updates to Facebook Stories

TEMPO.CO, JakartaWhatsApp states that it has added an optional feature that allows its users to share automatically generated status updates to Facebook Stories. Since it is optional, control over this feature will remain in the hands of the user.

“You must choose to use it and can deactivate it at any time,” read the statement from WhatsApp which was shared in writing, Wednesday 19 April 2023.

Status WhatsApp which can contain photos, videos, GIFs, and text is one of the most popular ways for WhatsApp users to share the latest information with their friends and close contacts. However, once posted, the status will disappear within 24 hours.

That’s why, according to WhatsApp, many of its users like the option to post their Status to Facebook Story. “We also received feedback that they wanted to make this process easier by not having to manually share their WhatsApp Status updates every time.”

The result is the addition of this optional feature. WhatsApp stated that the feature is starting to roll out globally and will be available to all users in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp admits that all this time developing Status by prioritizing user privacy. As with private chats and calls, Status is also said to be protected by end-to-end encryption so that users can share privately and safely.

Earlier this year, WhatsApp Status added a private audience selector feature which allows users to select who can view their Status.

How to Share Status Updates to Facebook Automatically:

1. Open WhatsApp.

2. Tap Status.

3. Create a Status update on an Android phone or iPhone

4. There are two sharing options, new or old status updates

5. Share a new Status update: Under My status, tap Share to Facebook Story. On the screen that appears then tap Allow or Open to open Facebook. Within the Facebook app, select the audience you want to share the Status update with, then tap Share Now.

6. Share old Status updates: Tap My Status on iPhone or More by My status on Android. Then, tap More near the status update you want to share, then tap Share to Facebook. If it appears, tap Allow or Open to open Facebook. In the Facebook app, select the audience you want to share the old Status update with, then tap Share Now.

7. After you share the Status update, WhatsApp will reopen.

8. If you have multiple Status updates, you can choose which one to share on Facebook.
