WhatsApp: will no longer work on many smartphones in 2021 – WhatsApp is undisputedly one of the most popular messengers on smartphones in Germany with millions of users. However, this could be an end for many smartphone owners. Because WhatsApp will no longer offer support for old cell phones, which could mean that the messenger service could only function to a limited extent or even not at all in the long term.

This is now also on the official website to read from WhatsApp. It was announced there that only the following operating systems will be supported in the future.
- Android with version 4.0.3 or newer.
- iPhone with iOS 9 or newer.
- Select phones with KaiOS 2.5.1 and later – including JioPhone and JioPhone 2.
It will certainly not be the case that the messenger app will no longer work on the older models punctually on January 1st, 2021. But sooner or later you can expect problems and disruptions there. If possible, the only thing that will help is an update of the operating system, or buy a newer smartphone if you want to continue using WhatsApp.
