What’s wrong with McFlurry? US government launches investigation into McDonald’s ice cream machines that are too often defective

The fact that the ice machines are often faulty is one thing. But the manufacturer would also make the machines so complicated that maintenance and repair would be almost impossible for other people to do. And that goes against the “right to repair”, the right to repair, which US President Joe Biden wants to introduce.

The manufacturer states to “The Wall Street Journal” that restaurant owners may also carry out the repairs themselves, but on their own responsibility. In other words: the warranty is void.

The FTC would emphasize that the fact that an investigation has been launched does not mean that there is actually malpractice. McDonald’s itself denies that an investigation is underway.
