Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The German government has threatened to expel Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn. This was done when he proved to rule from his private villa in Bavaria and left his country which was being hit by continuous demonstrations.
Quoted from German wave Tuesday (11/24/2020), the German Parliament said that King Maha enjoyed diplomatic immunity during his stay in the country. But Germany still had the power to drive him out.
The threat of deportation was previously raised by German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas. He had warned King Maha not to rule his country from Germany amid protests.
“We have made it clear that policies affecting the Thai state are not carried out from German soil,” Maas said in early October.
Raja Maha is reported to have spent some time in luxury villas in the southern German state of Bavaria. But last October, the richest king in the world finally returned to the land of the white elephant.
The German parliament wants the king not to be allowed to return to the Rottweiler Country. But it seems difficult to happen, considering that it has diplomatic immunity and is the symbol of Thailand itself.
Meanwhile, riots broke out in Thailand last week and injured 40 people. A total of five demonstrators were even hit by police bullets.
Launch Bangkok Post, this is the first ‘bloody’ riot to take place between demonstrators and the police. “This is very brutal,” said one demonstrator from the FreeYouth organization, named Oh.
The Thai demonstration demands that Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha resign and limits King Maha’s powers. The protests have been going on since July 2020.
