What’s next after The Chosen? Producer Dallas Jenkins reveals new shows and big news

The team behind “The Chosen,” the hugely popular television series about the life of Jesus and his disciples, is just getting started.

In fact, showrunner Dallas Jenkins revealed a series of announcements over the weekend at the ChosenCon fan convention in Orlando, a massive gathering of thousands of the show’s biggest fans.

That announcement was contingent on the launch of a new production company, 5&2 Studios, which will develop new films and television shows in the “The Chosen” universe.

Two of the major developments Jenkins revealed revolve around a new animated children’s show and the future of “The Chosen.” As for the latter, the show has been focused on a seven-season plan.

And with the fifth season set to premiere in 2025, fans have been left wondering what comes next. Jenkins and her team haven’t provided any specifics in depth, though a press release distributed during ChosenCon did state that the “next chapter after ‘The Chosen'” will focus on the “Acts of the Apostles.”

It’s unclear whether this will come in the form of streaming content or a theatrical release, but fans will surely be pleased to know that “The Chosen” won’t be the end of the cinematic journey.

A separate project that was discussed more intensely was “The Chosen Adventures,” a new 14-episode animated show for kids that features some of the same talent seen in “The Chosen,” including Jonathan Roumie, Paras Patel, Elizabeth Tabish and Noah James.

“’The Chosen Adventures’ follows 9-year-old Abby in the Galilean town of Capernaum, circa 30 A.D.,” a synopsis reads. “Curious young Abby is full of questions and feels like she doesn’t have the kind of answers she’s looking for. When she and her best friend, Joshua, meet Jesus, will all that change?”

And that’s not all. Jenkins also plans to enter the world of reality TV with a six-episode standalone show titled “The Chosen In the Wild with Bear Grylls.”

Hosted by Grylls, a well-known British adventurer, the show will take the cast and creators of “The Chosen” into the wild while “exploring their personal stories.”

Jenkins said fans have long wanted to see more content about “The Chosen,” but until now, the team wasn’t ready to dive into it.

“Almost every time I meet a viewer, they tell me something about wanting more biblical content from us,” he said in a statement. “I always say not to get ahead of ourselves and stay focused, but we now have a strong enough team to expand our efforts… I’m so excited to bring our ‘Chosen Path’ to more great Bible stories, and it’s amazing that we can announce it first to the fans who helped us get here long before we were popular.”
