What would our vacation be without our favorite streaming platform? It must be said that for the month of July, Netflix intends to put small dishes in the big ones.
If as usual, each month sees its share of new series and new films on the service, it is definitely the two summer months that are the most flourishing for streaming.
This month of July 2020 is therefore no exception to the rule. Just announced on the platform’s official Twitter, the release schedule is mouth-watering.
Films to discover or rediscover
Even if cinemas are once again open to the public, Netflix is preparing to offer a few nuggets that should appeal to more moviegoers. Among these, we can count on this small selection which you will tell us about.
Schindler’s List – July 1
Indispensable masterpiece of Steven Spielberg, Schindler’s list evokes the true story of Oskar Schindler, a German industrialist at the time of the war 39-45, who will take advantage of his privileged position to save a maximum of Jews . He thus turns away from his own party to redeem himself from a line, even though until then he was only interested in money and women.
For many spectators, this is the best film by Steven Spielberg. Suffice to say that you must see this masterpiece at least once.
The Old Guard – July 10
Original Netflix creation, The Old Guard brings Charlize Theron and Chiwetel Ejiofor together, in a story abouta group of immortal mercenaries, responsible for protecting humans for centuries.
- Unfortunately for them, they will be revealed in the light of day, which will bring them some small problems.
- To remedy this situation, the small band must destroy very powerful enemies.
It’s unclear what it’s going to be worth, but any film with Charlize Theron is worth taking.
Dunkirk – July 19
Straight out of the spirit of Christopher Nolan, to whom we owe the Batman trilogy in particular, Dunkirk is a film released in 2017, which benefited from a nice wave of positive reviews, both from the audience and from the press.
War film par excellence, this production tackles the thorny episode of the evacuation of the Allied troops, positioned in Dunkirk in May 1940.
If you have to love the “historic war” genre, you will not be absolutely disappointed with your discovery.
Baby Driver – July 29
Directed by Edgar Wright and released in 2017, Baby Driver features Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey and Lily James. In this turbulent story, spectators meet Baby, a young man who drives for bank robbers. His thing? Roll to the rhythm of his musical playlists, which can sometimes give some breathtaking scenes. Anxious to stop his activity to please the girl he is in love with, his plans will not go exactly as he had planned.

What would Netflix be without its essential series? Not much it is true. In July, the platform’s subscribers will be happier than ever, since some of them are signing a long-awaited return.
iZombie, season 4 – July 1
A student who has become a zombie, Olivia Moore works as a medical examiner, which allows her to get her hands on her favorite treat: the brain of the dead. Unfortunately, every time she eats a piece of a deceased person, she inherits memories of the person, which can sometimes lead to some funny situations.
Les Demoiselles du Téléphone, final season – July 3
In this series, which takes place in the 1920s, we follow the adventures of a group of women who work for the first national telephone company in Madrid. In search of independence, in a society in constant progress, the daily life of these operators of a new era is not as quiet as it seems.
Suits, season 8 part 1 – July 6
Harvey Specter is a very ambitious lawyer, who works for a large firm in Manhattan. Obliged to find a partner to support him, he sets his sights on Mike Ross. Brilliant, failing to have diplomas, he has a photographic memory which is very precious for the firm.
Good Girls, season 3 – July 26
In Good Girls, we follow the daily lives of 3 women who live in the suburbs and who face significant financial concerns. Stay-at-home mothers, they decide to join forces to solve their money problems, by robbing the supermarket in which one of them works.
If they succeed, their little misdeed has not gone unnoticed by a local gang, who will be happy to encourage them to work with them.
Umbrella Academy, season 2 – July 31
Launched with great fanfare in 2019, the Umbrella Academy series is an original Netflix creation particularly appreciated by subscribers. In this atypical story, we discover the existence of young super hero, the Hargreeves brothers and sisters, all adopted by the same wealthy man. After the latter’s death, they all find themselves and reveal the full extent of their faults, while having to face a particularly powerful enemy.
