This is already common practice in the stories on Facebook and Instagram, but now Whatsapp is following suit: the status messages should be able to be personalized. The meta-messenger announces this on its own Whatsapp channel.
Whatsapp status is getting a whole range of additional functions with a new update. So far you can only post colorful text messages or images or a maximum of 30-second videos with text and emojis.

New Whatsapp status function will be gradually rolled out
With the next update, which Whatsapp wants to gradually roll out to all users, “like status” notifications and private mentions using @ will become possible. In addition, you should be able to share a status by being mentioned yourself.
There should be a button in the shape of a green heart for the “I like status”. These like clicks are only visible to the status poster. If you are mentioned in a status, you will receive a private message.

These new functions have been gradually introduced since the beginning of October, Whatsapp announced on its homepage. They should soon be available to all users worldwide. Whatsapp also announces that it will provide “further functions for the status and the current tab in the coming months”.
