The Greek Vaccination Committee, which is responsible for developing and monitoring national coronavirus immunization efforts, has restricted the use of the Swedish-British company AstraZeneca to people over the age of 30, Kathimerini reported.
The UK-developed vaccine, which has come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks due to several cases of thrombotic events, was initially limited to people between the ages of 18 and 64 as a result of a lack of studies on its effect on people over 65.
After widespread use in many parts of the world, the vaccine was allowed for all age groups, but was again restricted following the announcement by the European Medicines Agency on Wednesday.
The European regulator has emphasized the link between the vaccine and the formation of blood clots, including the formation of blood clots in the brain (cerebral venous sinus thrombosis – CVST).
