Today, the prices of eggs on the farm decreased by about 11 pounds per plate, to record the price of white eggs at 84.75 pounds per carton, compared to 95.75 pounds yesterday, according to the data of the official page of the Poultry Producers Union on Facebook.

Ahmed Nabil, deputy head of the Egg Division in the Poultry Producers Union, attributed the decline in prices to the lack of demand for eggs during the month of Ramadan, which led to an increase in the supply of eggs, according to what he told Masrawy.

Nabil explained that the decline in the price of eggs has nothing to do with the decrease in the cost, as the real cost of the price of an egg dish exceeds 115 pounds.

Nabil pointed out that the price of a plate of white eggs was recorded today in the market at about 100 pounds, compared to 110 pounds yesterday.

Nabil explained that the low price of eggs in light of the high cost led to huge losses for producers, which forced producers to slaughter poultry flocks in order to avoid bleeding losses.

Egg prices have witnessed a decline during the recent period, after rising to high levels during the weeks preceding this decline, coinciding with the lack of supply and the high prices of fodder, according to breeders who spoke earlier to Masrawy.

Last February, the Central Bank issued a decision to stop dealing with collection documents in all import operations and to work with documentary credits instead, before returning to cancel this decision at the end of last year.

Importers and manufacturers suffered during the past year from a crisis of lack of production requirements due to the delay in opening documentary credits, and the slowness in managing currency by banks, according to importers and manufacturers who spoke earlier to Masrawy, but Dr. Mostafa Madbouly announced last January that the problem of stockpiling goods had ended and conditions had returned. in ports as normal.

The feed shortage crisis during the last period, due to the problem of the accumulation of goods in ports with the dollar shortage and the application of the documentary credits system, prompted some poultry farms to cull quantities of chicks, which sparked widespread controversy prompting the government to seek quick solutions to the crisis.

Egypt produces about 1.6 billion birds annually, and this production achieves self-sufficiency by about 95%, and the gap between production and consumption does not exceed 5%, according to data from the Poultry Division previously.
