“Indian” summer in Europe awaits Assoc. Prof. Kunchev
Another 10 suspicious samples from “Pirogov”
And the strain from South Africa is here, imported by a foreigner
7 new samples of the Indian strain (delta) were confirmed by the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases. The first registered case in our country was of a doctor from Pleven, who drove it in April.
The new ones are by employees of Stolichen Elektrotransport – drivers of trams and trolleys. One of them was admitted to hospital with bilateral pneumonia, saturation 85 and need oxygen, but is now well. The others are under home quarantine with mild symptoms, explained the director of the center, Prof. Iva Hristova.
“Currently, out of 2,000 employees, we have 2 patients, a week ago there were 7,” said the head of Stolichen Elektrotransport, Evgeniy Ganchev. In public transport, the daily disinfection continues, and the drivers of electric transport

in separate cabins.
In November, there were many cases of sick employees in municipal transport companies – 60-70 people, not just drivers. Vaccination of employees is provided. According to unofficial information, only about 10% of electric vehicles have expressed a desire to be vaccinated.
The Sofia RHI immediately started an epidemiological study to establish the contacts of those infected with the delta strain, as well as whether they have been vaccinated. It is unknown at this time whether they have traveled abroad to become infected. Rather

on the territory of the country, explained to “24 hours” the chief state health inspector Assoc. Prof. Angel Kunchev. No new measures are planned so far, except for expanding the restrictive list for entry from risky countries, he said.
“Delta is here, get vaccinated!”, Called yesterday the director of “Pirogov” Prof. Asen Baltov – the hospital from which the samples were sent. They were submitted in the period 6 – 14 June. One is positive with the South African version (beta). He is settling in Bulgaria for the first time and is a foreigner from South Africa with the status of a temporary resident. He was immediately quarantined and has already been cured.
On June 24, Pirogov sent another 10 suspicious samples of the Indian strain, the hospital said. Some of the patients were hospitalized.
Until recently in our country the British version covered between 90 and 100% of the cases, now for Sofia its share is 70%, said Prof. Hristova. “The Delta option is much easier to spread and we will certainly have many more cases,” she said. It does not rule out a new wave in the summer.
The Indian version will dominate throughout Europe, including Bulgaria until the end of the summer, warned Assoc. Prof. Kunchev. Vaccines are effective against these mutations, experts say.
