Apple has introduced new iPhone 16 models that feature an innovative camera control button located on the right side below the power button. The camera control offers users many new options for taking photos and videos.

Camera control functions
- One click opens the camera app or a third-party app.
- One click with the camera open – takes a photo.
- Press and hold – launches the camera app and starts recording video.
- Long press – opens controls like zoom and allows you to lock focus and exposure (coming this fall) to alter the shot without loss of quality.
- Double-tapping opens the camera preview menu where you can adjust the exposure and depth of field.
- By swiping you can switch between settings such as zoom, exposure or depth of field.
- The button is deeply integrated into the software, allowing you to switch between functions without having to manually open the camera app.

- Integration with social networks like Snapchat.
- Visual intelligence – the ability to get information about objects through a click and hold gesture, such as restaurant opening hours or plant identification. You can also add the date to the Calendar app.
- Camera control also allows you to use third-party tools such as Google Product Search or ChatGPT integration.
The camera control button design includes a smooth-textured sapphire coating and stainless steel surround. The sensor provides tactile feedback that feels similar to the shutter button on a DSLR camera.
