/ world today news/ Who will say anything, spit and spit, but great Bulgarian writers grew up during socialism – it is unlikely that in another 50 years there will be such ones: Dimitar Dimov, Emilian Stanev, Pavel Vezhinov, Yordan Radichkov, Nikolay Haitov, Ivaylo Petrov, Bogomil Rainov… Poets like P. Penev, D. Damyanov, Pavel Matev, Georgi Jagarov, Hristo Fotev, Konstantin Pavlov… I stop! Come on, that’s enough! Only one is enough.
And now we have great writers: we see them in the tabloids – drunk Kalin Terziyski showing his ass by the pool, great right?
Well, there were also classic graphomaniacs on the state table, party meritorious – St.C. Daskalov, Karaslavov / although there are several talented works!/, Dimitar Gundov, Angel Todorov – you have hardly heard of them, but they published book after book that were not bought, they were lying in bookstores, they robbed them, they sent them to be melted down and then they were publishing a new book…Such prominent representatives of this highly artistic process were the last two.
Angel Todorov himself has ironized how, sometime in the early 60s, he goes to a public bath, hires a veal, he rubs him and talks to him: what do you do for a living?
– Well, I’m a writer, Bai Angel modestly replies.
– What’s your name?
– Angel Todorov!
The calf rubs and thinks, thinks and rubs, and after a while cuts off:
– There is no such writer, I know Ivan Vazov!
In the top ten. So Angel Todorov and Dimitar Gundov, mediocre writers, friends, well guarded…
One day Dimitar Gundov said to him:
– Angelcho, why don’t we each take a business trip, so let’s walk for a week to Plovdiv, the Old Town, Lamartine’s house…
– Mitko, are you crazy? One day we will not be in Sofia and they will forget us!
And he is right, mercilessly right.
Well, what writers there once were…
