Goodbye Germany is a documentary that follows Germans who are looking for new happiness in another country.
“Bye, Germany!” Exclaims the narrator. Vox’s docu-soap “The Emigrants” has been accompanying the series of reports since 2006 with Germans looking for new happiness in other countries. It does not matter whether a person moves alone, with a partner or with their whole family. The popular TV format also follows those who want to emigrate when preparing at home. After the introduction and motivation, the protagonists are accompanied through the three crucial phases of their emigration: This is followed by the often painful farewell phase. The reporters then go into the third phase, in which they investigate whether the emigrants have found what they are looking for in their new home.
