TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – PT Mandiri Bank (Persero) Tbk. (BMRI) will remodel 250 branch offices to become digital this year in line with the state-owned bank’s plan to go digital.
Bank Mandiri Deputy President Director Alexandra Askandar said the company is currently developing digital services throughout the country branch office. Therefore, management has recruited many talents in the field of information technology recently.
“In the past, in developing IT, we used vendors. However, because it didn’t meet expectations, now it’s in-house [dikerjakan sendiri]. In order to be able to develop digitalization features,” he said at an iftar event with media leaders, Wednesday, April 13, 2022.
He explained that the development of technology internally was to remodel branch offices to become digital. In the future, he continued, there are three types of branch offices that serve customers, namely hybrid (between online and offline), digital box (purely digital), and upgrade.
Up-grid services are carried out at the Bank Mandiri head office with all facilities using machines, while tellers and others are in the back office. To go to the bank digitalsaid Alexandra, this year the company will remodel 250 conventional branch offices to become digital.
This, he continued, would certainly have an impact on the employees working at the branch office. “All services are digital, what about employees? We have a strategic workforce program. There is a special program because the numbers are not small. In large numbers. So there will be upskilling and reskilling for employees whose branch offices are affected by digital,” he said.
