We will have survived this story exactly when all the hundreds of thousands of virologists, statistical mathematicians and vaccination experts on Twitter and Facebook can be trained back to football team bosses. (It will probably take some time.)
At the moment, a phenomenon can be observed particularly well and free of fog, which is part of social media like the cat photos and the clever sayings of fictitious Indian chiefs: Everyone is sure. Everyone is so full of opinion that they can no longer hold the water of conviction. And everyone has no doubt that they are right.
A very wise person once said to me: Doubt makes the wise one. Otherwise, try to go to sleep a little less silly every night than you woke up. How can you be sure of what you will think tomorrow? You don’t know what you’re still learning today.
