Two women, Luz Gabás and Irene Vallejo closed the year 2022 as the authors of the best-selling Aragonese books in community bookstores. Milestone achieved thanks to ‘Far from Luisana’ (last Planet winner) already ‘Infinity in a reed’ that have finished the year as works demanded in the fiction and non-fiction categories, respectively, according to the data provided by bookstores to LibriRed, from Cegal (Spanish Confederation of Booksellers’ Guilds and Associations).
If the novel by Luz Gabás has been the best-selling Aragonese novel in the fiction category, they follow him on the podium ‘The Carthago Copyist’by Miguel Ángel Nievas Gómez (Ediciones Rialp) and ‘Kill the King’, by José Luis Corral (Editions B). The list of the five best sellers is completed by ‘Un tal González’, by Sergio del Molino (Alfaguara); and ‘A secret and other stories’, by Severino Pallaruelo (Xordica). They are followed by authors such as Ana Alcolea, Miguel Mena, Chesús Yuste, Sandra Aragüás and Julio José Ordovás.
Irene Vallejo, twice
Irene Vallejo and her successful ‘El infinito en un junco’ (which has already sold more than a million copies) is the great winner in Aragonese bookstores in 2022 at the non-fiction category since, in addition to leading the classification, it places the Aragonese version of it, ‘Lo infinito en un chunco’ (Xordica), in fourth place.
The podium in this category is completed ‘The courage to live’, by Ángel Guinda (Olifante); and ‘The secret life of paintings’, by Agustín Sánchez Vidal (Espasa). In fifth place he concluded ‘El románico aragonés’, a book by Antonio García Omedes published by Prames.
Regarding the Spanish authors who have sold the most books in Aragonese bookstores in 2022 in the fiction category, they are, in this order, Rosario Raro with ‘El cielo sobre Canfranc’ (Planeta), Rosa Montero with ‘El peligro de estar sane’ (Seix Barral), Santiago Posteguillo with ‘Roma soy yo’ (Editions B), Almudena Grandes with ‘Everything is Going to Be Better’ (Tusquets Publishers), and Arturo Perez-Reverte with ‘Revolution’ (Alfaguara).
In the nonfiction category, the best sellers last year were Juan José Millás and Juan Luis Arsuaga with his book ‘The death told by a sapiens to a Neanderthal’ (Alfaguara). After them, Pedro Baños with ‘El poder’ (Rosamerón), Karlos Arguiñano with ‘Cocina fácil y rico’ (Planeta), Pepe Domingo Castaño with ‘Until I run out of words’ (Aguilar) and Isa Duque appear in the classification. with ‘Approaching generation Z’ (Planet).
Best sellers in Spain
Lists that contrast to some extent with the books that have been the best sellers in the rest of Spain. Classification (joint among all categories, yes) that commands ‘Roma is me’, by Santiago Posteguillo, above ‘How to make good things happen to you’, by Marian Rojas Estapé (Espasa); from ‘The Black Book of Hours’, by Eva García Sáenz de Urturi (Planet); ‘Violeta’, by Isabel Allende (Plaza y Janés) and ‘Find your vitamin person’, by Marian Rojas Estapé (Espasa).
The best-selling Aragonese novel in Spain is once again ‘Far from Louisiana’, by Luz Gabás, who is in position number 12, which is the only one that sneaks into the 20 most demanded in Spain.
According to the trend that is being followed, everything indicates that Luz Gabás will continue for several weeks at the top of the ranking and it remains to be seen what the irruption of Nosotros will be like, the novel with which Manuel Vilas from Huesca has won the last Nadal Award.
