In a WhatsApp chat, if you don’t feel like typing, you can send an audio note or start a voice call. But what if there was something in between, more than an audio but not a call? Well, Telegram, the messaging app that always innovates before WhatsApp, found it: Vocal cats.
Telegram News: December Patch
Just in time for Christmas, Telegram released the monthly patch for updates to its app. And here are his news:
Vocal cats
Any Telegram group can now convert in an always active voice chat room. Voice chats work in parallel with existing text and multimedia communications, adding a layer of ephemeral live chats to the group. They can be used as virtual office space for “informal teams or rooms for any community,” like virtual family reunions these days at Christmas.
While Ivoice chats are not group calls, can achieve similar goals, while still providing flexibility rather than old-fashioned programming. In larger groups, they also give random opportunities to talk to people.
Groups with active voice chats have a special bar at the top that shows who is speaking at the moment (and even how well they talk). This can help you choose the ideal time to register. And when you’re done, you can roam freely around the app, view conversations, and send messages. You will stay connected to the chat and the microphone controls will remain on screen so you can silence or talk whenever you want.
If you’re using Android, you can take full advantage of the voice chat experience with a system-wide floating widget that shows your microphone controls and is currently speaking, even when Telegram is in the background.
You can chat with anyone is online or invite more people from a menu. Voice chats can welcome several thousand participants, which means they work for everything from consulting with family members while shopping to a massive live event.
To create a voice chat and discover your own way of using it, open the profile of any group of which you are an administrator, touch (⋯) or (⋮) and choose the option Start voice chat.
Like the Telegram groups before them, “We hope voice chats will change the way people collaborate and stay in touch. In the coming weeks, we’ll be tweaking them further, listening to your feedback, improving noise cancellation, and adding more features like video and screen sharing.
Raccourcis push to talk
In Telegram Desktop and in the native application for macOS, you can configure a push-to-talk key in voice chats, to control your microphone even if Telegram is out of focus.
Sticker outlines
Telegram animated stickers are optimized for efficiency and offer 180 image animations with infinite resolution in less than 50KB. “With today’s update, the stickers load even faster than before and show a preview of what you may soon see.
SD card storage on Android
Android device users can now move Telegram app data from your internal storage to your SD cards, allowing those with minimal storage to save more media and files and thus maximize their Telegram experience.
Remember that you can always keep the space that Telegram occupies on your device very small. look Settings> Data and storage> Storage usage to get an idea.
New animations on Android
Telegram added New stylish animations in the Android app– pressing the New message button, opening profiles, managing chat folders and anywhere you can see message counters.
Announce messages on iOS
If you’re using an iPhone, you can ask Siri to read received messages aloud on your headphones. Open the IOS settings> Notifications> Announce messages with Siri and activate the Telegram option.
Modification of improvements
Android users can now edit a photo they have already sent to add effects, designs or stickers with our powerful media editor. IOS users can press the pen button to quickly edit and resend a photo they received. These features were only available on one of the platforms, but now iOS and Android offer the same possibility.
When editing a message or comment, as you approach the maximum length of a message, a counter will appear to show you how many characters you have left …
More animated emojis
No update is complete without more animated emojis. As always, just send a message with just one of these emojis in a chat.
Platform to suggest features
Many of Telegram’s features started out as user suggestions. To help identify potential new features and locate bugs in the app, “we’ve launched a public bugs and suggestions platform.”
Please note that the platform currently only accepts one language: English. This is necessary so that our users around the world do not create dozens of requests for the same features in all languages.
