what we learned about COVID-19 in a year

As we discussed above, in many people, the titer of protective antibodies, including neutralizing ones, falls rather quickly. This means that, theoretically, such patients can become infected with the virus again. However, in addition to antibody protection, we also have a cellular component of immunity. Special killer cells remember the pathogen, quickly activate when they meet again, and destroy all cells where the virus has entered. And the synthesis of protective antibodies upon repeated encounter with the virus starts very quickly thanks to memory cells. A preprint has recently been released (the text of an article that scientists have made publicly available, but which has not yet been published in a scientific journal, that is, has not been reviewed. – Forbes Life), the authors of which showed that even those who had mild covid disease had memory cells hold on at least six months. Thus, reinfection can be mild or completely asymptomatic, so that the person does not go to the test and does not find out that he has been infected with the virus again.
