what was one of the greatest actors

One of the most famous actors of world cinema did not become. In France at the age of 90 Max von Syudov died – A man who has played so many roles that it is already difficult to connect with the cinema of any one country, including his native Sweden, where he began in the black and white films of the great Bergman, which have long become classics. Italy, France and, of course, Hollywood – all these are the stages of his career, which did not stop until the last days.

In the incredible twentieth century, which has largely become the century of cinema, Max von Sydow was one of the greatest actors. Few, however, knew that his unique manner of playing had almost completely grown out of the traditions of the Russian classical theater school. And the book of Stanislavsky “Work of the actor on himself” until the end of his life he called the Bible of excellence.

He came to the cinema from the Stogkolm Academic Theater. And soon became the favorite actor of the ingenious Bergman. Their first collaboration was the Seventh Seal tape. The episode, where von Syudov plays chess on the seashore with the embodiment of death, is one of the most recognizable and important in the history of cinema.

“Bergman’s paintings were what made me not only a director, but also a man,” said the actor. But Bergman, in principle, does not exist without von Syudov.

Andrei Konchalovsky and Max von Syudov had long-standing friendship. Together they argued about the movie. They worked together. Konchalovsky von Syudov starred in the film “Duet for Soloist”.

He was an actor of planetary proportions. He was invited by David Lynch, Steven Spielberg, Wooddy Allen. The picture of the last “Hannah and Her Sisters” received three Academy Award. In Hollywood in 1965, von Sydow played a major role in the now classic film about the life of Jesus Christ.

In the mid-1970s, von Sydou moved to Rome, where he was friends with Marcello Mastroianni. He stood at the forefront of the phenomenon of Italian cinema, starring in many cult paintings now.

But wherever the great Swede worked, the spiritual gravity of Russian culture in his life remained central. And once he played Professor Preobrazhensky in the Italian-German film adaptation of Dog Heart by Bulgakov, a film entitled “Why Mr. Bobikov Barks.”

“He played in Uncle Van, in plays, in classical drama. But at the same time he was a gentle, intelligent man,” recalls film expert Kirill Razlogov.

Another meeting with the Russian soul was the film “Moscow-2017”, where von Syudov played together with Ingeborga Dapkunaite.

His filmography has a half thousand roles. Among the latter is the role of Lord Brinden, who assumed the guise of a three-eyed raven, in the popular television series Game of Thrones.

In recent years, Max von Syudov lived in France, whose citizenship he took in 2002 and whose highest award – for his contribution to world cinema – was awarded, like his friend Andrei Konchalovsky, with whom they were friends until recent days.
