What two vaccinations will save Orenburg residents from pneumonia and complications from COVID

Here are tips from the chief freelance epidemiologist of the Ministry of Health of the Orenburg region, which will allow residents of the region to protect themselves during colds and pandemics.

Despite the fact that the peak of colds in the Orenburg region, as a rule, falls on January, now doctors note a sharp increase in the number of cases of ARVI and other colds. At least in the same period last year, the number of cases was lower.

This is due, first of all, to the fact that this year, due to the pandemic, the population has a different attitude to their health. If earlier with the slightest cold and fever, Orenburg residents did not seek medical help, now they are less self-medicating, therefore the incidence is high, ” explained the chief freelance epidemiologist of the region Galina Zebzeeva… – Now the main thing is to observe preventive measures, otherwise people travel in public transport in a mask that covers only their mouths and their nose is open. Why, one wonders, then wear it at all? Use of personal protective equipment in crowded places should be correct.

This year, as experts note, Orenburg residents have a different attitude to vaccination against influenza, the percentage of refusals from it is lower. In September, from the first batch of vaccine (within the framework of the national calendar, they are now vaccinating with the drug Sovigripp), 150 thousand children in the region were vaccinated against influenza (schoolchildren were vaccinated only in primary grades, the middle and senior level will be from the second batch) and 240 thousand adults.

At the moment, the second delivery of free flu vaccine is expected in Orenburg region, it will arrive after October 10. Then they plan to vaccinate 170 thousand children, in November, an additional vaccine for adults will be received.

Recall that free flu vaccinations are given to children from six months and adults working in areas susceptible to infection – doctors, teachers, transport workers, social security workers, service workers, as well as people over 60 years old and suffering from chronic diseases. In general, half of the population of the Orenburg region is planning to vaccinate against influenza this year.

In order not to arrange a queue for vaccination at polyclinics, a huge request to make an appointment in advance at the polyclinic at the place of residence. In general, now, while there is still such an opportunity, residents of Orenburg, especially children, should strengthen their immunity by using fresh vitamins – vegetables and fruits, – Galina Andreevna emphasized.

Anyone who is not included in the national calendar in the list of those who are entitled to free vaccination against influenza can purchase a vaccine at a pharmacy and, having made an appointment at a clinic in advance, come and get vaccinated. In a pharmacy “Grippol +”, as a rule, costs about 260 rubles, it is suitable for both children and adults. Just keep in mind that you should be vaccinated within two hours after purchasing the vaccine, for this you need to save the receipt, which will indicate the time of purchase.

When you call to make an appointment with the clinic for vaccination, you can immediately ask if the clinic has its own pharmacy. If there is a vaccine in it, then it is better to buy it there.

The imported vaccine, which is more expensive but the production technology is the same, should reach local pharmacies after October 15. Vaccination should be carried out by the end of November – the beginning of December, otherwise it will not make sense later, because the vaccinated person will not have time to develop immunity against influenza viruses before the peak of the incidence.

In general, the chief epidemiologist of the region advised get two vaccinations at once – against influenza and pneumococcal infection, which will serve as a good help to the body in the fight against viral pneumonia and complications in COVID.

These two shots will be a good starting point so that a cold, if it occurs, proceeds without complications. In combination, these two vaccinations will achieve the greatest effect. This is especially true for people with somatic pathologies and the elderly, – concluded Galina Zebzeeva.

Only now the vaccine against pneumococcus (done once or for a couple of years in a row) is not included in the national calendar of free vaccinations, therefore, those who wish can do it only at their own expense, purchasing a vaccine at a pharmacy, one dose costs about 1,700 rubles (which vaccine is better to purchase, it costs consult a local therapist). You can also get this vaccine by contacting the clinic with a vaccine purchased less than two hours before coming for vaccination by appointment.

What about coronavirus vaccinations? In the Orenburg region, only 42 doctors are vaccinated so far

Since the first batch of the COVID-19 vaccine that came to the region, only 42 health workers have been vaccinated. The batch of the vaccine was quite small, the second batch is expected by the end of October, when a larger number of fellow countrymen can be vaccinated.

But massively the population will be vaccinated against coronavirus free of charge no earlier than January next year. The situation is the same in all other regions of the country, because the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation provides all subjects with a new vaccine equally and at the same time.
