GitHub and then Microsoft announced last week end the development of the successful Atom editor. Microsoft promotes its VS Code instead. However, it contains telemetry. It is possible to turn off this telemetry, but what if you don’t trust Microsoft, for example?
Then there is a project for you VSCodium (following the Chrome-Chromium, Code-Codium model), which is open source and essentially the same as VSCode except for telemetry. Friday article on the Trend Oceans server describes how to install VSCodium.
The easiest way is to add a repository. Or use a snap or flatpak. The last option is to take binaries or compile directly from GitHub. However, VSCodium is often updated 2-4 times a month.
