What to Pay Attention to Pregnant and Breastfeeding Mothers During Isoman

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Pregnant mother is a vulnerable group Covid-19. An obstetrician specialist at Mitra Keluarga Kelapa Gading Hospital, Boy Abidin, said that at least he and the hospital’s obgyn team found 2-3 pregnant women who were positive for Covid-19.

Whereas previously maybe only 1-2 mothers per month. He said the number of additional cases that were announced every day was real.

Pregnant women with Covid-19 will indeed receive different treatment along with the presence of symptoms.

“Mother is positive? Don’t panic. Stay calm, feel the symptoms again. If there is a mild cough, mild fever, we consider it a mild symptom. If it is mild, it is allowed to self-isolate (isoman). If you have a high fever, severe symptoms, check immediately,” said Boy in Instagram Live session together HaiBunda, Tuesday (27/7).

Then, what to pay attention to during isoman?

According to Boy, whether pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, isoman guidelines are no different from other patients. The Ministry of Health has also included isoman guidelines, starting from the provision of rooms, bathrooms, eating utensils, separate beds and both in terms of air circulation, continuing to apply health protocols to regular monitoring.

However, there are some things that are quite different, here are some of them.

1. Saturation is kept above 95 percent

Daily monitoring is required including oxygen saturation. Pregnant women, said Boy, must have saturation above 95 percent. This is in contrast to non-pregnant patients with a saturation of at least 93 percent.

“Saturation is above 95 percent, pregnant women, this fetus needs oxygen. Poor saturation is dangerous for both mother and fetus. Lack of oxygen can cause contractions, trigger premature birth, and if fatal, infant death can occur,” explained Boy.

2. Continue to consume foods with balanced nutrition

Consumption of food should be good for both pregnant and lactating women. Vitamins taken during pregnancy can still be consumed. Boy said isoman patients will usually get medicine and vitamins from the Ministry of Health. Mothers do not need to worry because the drug does not cause side effects and is safe for the fetus.

3. Maintain fluid intake asupan

Boy emphasized the importance of adequate fluids, especially for pregnant and lactating women. Consume at least 3 liters of fluid or the equivalent of 12 glasses of water (per 250 milliliters glass).

This liquid will provide many benefits, including keeping the body from dehydration, facilitating the absorption of nutrients, maintaining metabolism, maintaining normal body functions including the body’s immune system. Then in breastfeeding mothers, fluid consumption will replace body fluids lost during breastfeeding.

“Our bodies are 70-80 percent fluid. The body will work optimally if the body’s cells are maintained so that the metabolism is good, the immunity is good, the brain can think, the heart can work, the kidneys too, everything needs fluids. If this function is lacking, it will decrease,” he explained. .

4. Positive and fun activities

Stress, uncontrolled anxiety will interfere with the immune system. Especially in pregnant and lactating women, this concern is child-centered. There are fears that the child will be infected, the condition later during childbirth and all kinds of negative thoughts.

“Try to do activities that are positive and happy. Talk to the baby. Close your eyes and ears to negative news so that your immune system remains good,” said Boy.

5. Light exercise

Moderate exercise is very helpful for body fitness is also related to the immune system. In addition, light exercise will help the mother’s lungs expand so that more oxygen is absorbed. This is an effort to maintain the level of oxygen saturation in the blood.
