New York is hot, very hot… Since this weekend, the American east coast has been facing a heatwave, with temperatures which have blithely exceeded 40 ° C. In Washington, the US weather services even recorded a felt temperature of 43 ° C during the weekend. And the US authorities have reported 6 deaths attributed to the heatwave.
In New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio declared a state of emergency, leading to the cancellation of several sports competitions scheduled for this weekend, including the New York triathlon. The town hall has also opened 500 air-conditioned reception centers so that New Yorkers who do not have air conditioning in their home can come and cool off.

Lower temperatures this week

The situation should improve from today Monday. The weather forecast announces 28 ° C for Monday, July 22, 2019 and, above all, the arrival of strong thunderstorms. Under the effect of thunderstorms, temperatures will drop to around 24 ° C only for Tuesday July 23.
But New York is not done with high temperatures. From Wednesday July 24, 2019, the thermometer will start to rise again, reaching 31 degrees at the end of the week. If you are in New York at the end of July and the beginning of August, plan a program that alternates outdoor discoveries and indoor visits, to enjoy the air conditioning.
