When high water arrives

  • Watch the media and try to take as many preventive measures as possible to protect health and material values ​​before the climax. At the same time, always pay attention to the safety of yourself and your loved ones!

  • Heed the instructions and advisories issued in relation to floods both centrally and locally.
  • Store important personal documents (including insurance contracts), documents and valuables in a safe place. Likewise, documents for the purchase of larger furniture items, electronics, etc. Try to keep as many material values ​​as possible so that water cannot reach them.
  • Even during a flood or flood, try to minimize the occurrence or spread of damage, but only if it is safe to do so in the given situation.

How to properly proceed after a flood

  • As soon as the water recedes, ensure that the water is pumped out as quickly as possible and that mud and debris are removed from the building and its surroundings. Even so, pay maximum attention to your safety and hygiene standards.
  • If possible, provide photo documentation of the extent of the damage with a mobile phone.
  • Collect destroyed and damaged items for later inspection by the liquidator. If hygienic conditions allow, do not throw anything away.

How to report flood damage

  • Use the online forms for reporting damage (according to the type of damage) on the website of UNIQA pojišťovna:
  • Filling out an online report is the fastest way to inform the insurance company.
  • Prepare the following documents for reporting the damage: insurance policy number or personal data, according to which the contract can be traced (birth number, address, etc.), contact details of the person (ideally a mobile phone) who will be present at the site of the damage, or where else can be reached for the purpose of inspecting the place of damage, the account number to which UNIQA should transfer the insurance payment.
  • Prepare photo documentation for the inventory of damaged and destroyed items. In the case of insured companies, the insurance company will also need accounting records of the affected items and the state of the assets before the flood, including stocks in the warehouse.
  • If the situation requires it and if it will help a faster recovery, immediately ask UNIQA pojišťovna for a deposit for the insurance payment. In the request, write the account number where the money can be sent.
  • Follow the instructions you receive from the liquidator when inspecting the damage and when contacting the insurance company by phone.

How liquidation of flood damage is carried out in the insurance company

  • After notification of the loss event, the client is contacted by the liquidator or sent an SMS, e-mail, or otherwise a message with the contact details of the relevant liquidator and the insurance company’s technician.
  • Depending on the type and extent of the damage, either an on-site inspection of the damage is agreed, or the client receives a letter requesting documents. A harmful event can also be solved by a combination of both procedures.
