This week, the heat has knocked us down, but it’s time to get motivated. This weekend promises to be once again loaded with culture: an immersive exhibition, a Cannes film to discover in theaters… without forgetting to eat.

Discover the spicy and original cuisine of BangBang

This is one of the last addresses in Ménilmontant. If it’s already hot, why not raise the temperature even further? Let’s be crazy. This is what the two chefs of this “spicy project” offer, the Dane Mads Christensen and the Colombian Carlos Peñarredonda, who highlight their “banging hot food”.

The concept ? We share original and spicy dishes. Looking at the menu, we immediately set our sights on the cheddar croquettes with green chilli accompanied by a mango chutney, the grilled green asparagus, pepper, smoked goat cheese mousse and chilli jam or the caramelized octopus on the barbecue with pickles of spicy white onions. There are also quite a few choices for carnivores and several 100% vegetarian dishes. And even original desserts revisited, like the banana split made with plantain bananas and coconut crumble.

BangBang Restaurant. 9 rue du Liban. 75020 Paris. Wednesday to Friday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

An immersive exhibition at the Gaîté Lyrique

Inaugurated on May 20, “Shiny Gold” is presented as a world premiere by French designer Nelly Ben Hayoun. To celebrate ten years of the cultural place in the center of Paris, the contemporary artist presents a “creation ready to welcome the thousand sunny stories of the world to come” His work in situ represents “a rococo kingdom Shiny Gold”, a true tribute to the science and the various forms of life. Through this exhibition, we find a whole world in the form of inflatable sculptures and sound puzzles. It even seems that you can come across various animals there, a sprawling squid and… Marie Curie. Go there to interpret it in your own way.

From May 20 to November 6. The Gaite Lyrique. 3 bis rue Papin. 75003 Paris. From 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Free.

Find Marion Cotillard on the big screen

This Friday, May 20, Arnaud Desplechin returns to the official selection of the Cannes Film Festival with “Brother and Sister”, his new film carried by Marion Cotillard and Melvil Poupaud. The good news is that this reunion between Alice and Louis, a sister and a brother who have not spoken to each other for twenty years, will be visible in cinemas today. Fascinated by family dramas, the director once again stages a superb duo of actors, sensitive and fair.

As a bonus, Arte.tv puts the filmmaker in the spotlight with four films available on the platform until the end of August: “Esther Kahn” (2000), “Kings and Queen” (2004), “A Christmas Tale” (2008), “Three Memories of My Youth” (2015).

If you don’t have the faith to go to the cinema, we also understand. This weekend is especially made for “Stranger Things” latecomers. It’s high time to be up to date because Volume 1 Season 4 is coming May 27 on Netflix. And if you are more of a fan of historical series, “The Essex Serpent” with Claire Danes, Tom Hiddleston and Clémence Poésy, made its debut on Apple TV+ on May 13.
