Lewis Hamilton commented on Bernie Ecclestone’s statements via Instagram. The world champion describes Ecclestone’s statements as “exactly what’s wrong with this society”. “I am sad and disappointed to read such a reaction.”
“I don’t even know where to start,” Hamilton opens his response via Instagram, then shows a photo of the article with a clear “What the…”. Finally, Hamilton also responds with a slightly more extensive explanation. “(I am) sad and disappointed to read these comments.”
“Bernie has left the sport and belongs to a different generation, but this is exactly what is wrong with this society,” Hamilton says. “Ignorant and uncivilized remarks that show how much work remains if society is possible for real equality.”

These statements make it clear to Hamilton. “Now I understand why nothing happened to make our sport more diverse or to address the racism I endured throughout my career.”
According to Hamilton, some of Formula 1’s problems are due to the person who ran the sport for so long. “If someone who has been at the head of the sport for decades has so little awareness of the deep-seated problems that black people struggle with every day, how can we expect the people working under him to understand that. It starts at the top, ”says Hamilton.
“It is time for a change. I will not stop fighting for a fair future for our sport, with equal opportunities for all ”, predicts the world champion. “I will continue to use my voice to represent those who cannot.”
