Ukraine declared independence – what happened

On August 24, 1991, the announcer went to work and prepared for the broadcast. She didn’t know what news she would announce.

The artist recalled that when the management gave her an important task – to read the Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine live on air, she was scared. Then Belonozhko thought that other professionals could have received this resolution. But on that day, she was the one who had to read out the important news.

“I was so happy that I thought: this is my last day on television. What a responsibility this is! “, said Belonozhko in one of the interviews.

The document that the announcer read out was on a white sheet of paper, which was removed by the editor (this was always done after broadcasts). Svetlana remembered that she did not have time to take a picture of the moment when the independence was announced. But her husband, the famous artist Vitaly Belonozhko, recorded everything on video.

But the artist died this winterthey did not publish those pictures. Unfortunately, a clip of the broadcast was not preserved online.

What Belonozhko looks like now

At UT-1, the announcer presented not only a news program. She was also the author and presenter of the projects “Evening Kazka”, Musical TV Fair”, “Fashion, Fashion”, “Zichimo Happiness” and many others.

However, Belonozhko worked not only on television. The artist did a lot, she made many goals. Currently, she criticizes the full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and gives concerts.

Even in her youth, she met the one she chose, with whom she lived all these years. The marriage produced two sons.

Together with Belonozhko, back in 1999, she founded the creative family festival “Melody of Two Hearts”.

Now the artist is 66 years old. She does not hide that she really misses her husband, with whom she lived all her life.
