What is striking about “Songs of a Darker World”: The playlist hardly contains any Cure singles, so hardly any hits. At least none of the pop numbers like “The Lovecats” or “Close To Me”.
The only singles are “A Forest”, “Charlotte Sometimes”, “Pictures Of You” and “Never Enough” in a maxi version. Strictly speaking, “Alone”, which conveys more atmosphere than melody (when the euphoria over the Cure comeback has subsided, you will have to admit that), is not classic single material either.
