Hanna Dahl has played in Avaldsnes since 2013 and participated in both series silver and relegation matches with the club in the Toppserien.
Now the club is entering a new era under the leadership of John Arne Riise. On Monday, the former national team and Liverpool star led his first Avaldsnes training as a coach, in what is Riise’s first coaching job at the top level.
– He is very geared. He has been on from the start and he makes demands from the very beginning and I think it is important that it comes already now in women’s football, Dahl says to TV 2, and continues:
– Because I have felt over the years I have played that little demands are made on us in relation to the men. He is in place right away and it gives even more motivation to get better when he makes demands on us.

– The expectations for Riise are high
Riise herself is looking forward to working with the Avaldsnes ladies. He is clear that he must stand for what he believes in and have high demands and expectations for his players.
– The most important thing for me is that they have faith in what we work with and are willing to learn, and we know that. I have watched some training before Christmas, and we started today and we know that everyone is eager to get better, Riise says to TV 2.
The coach, who relegated with Flint last season, further points out that the ambitions have already been made clear to the players.
– We had a meeting about what I demand and expect and what awaits them as well. I think they are geared too, so we can only take day by day, but I think we are looking forward to getting started properly.
Dahl hopes Avaldsnes, who just held his place last season, can do well in the Toppserien in 2022.
– The expectations are high for Riise, and for ourselves, Dahl concludes.
