/ world today news/ GERB do not wish to ally with BSP not only today, but also in the future, because they have irreconcilable differences in their visions for the development of Bulgaria. This is stated in a declaration of the ruling party, adopted at the Fourth Accountability-Election Assembly.

“From our highest party forum, we, the delegates of the National Assembly of PP GERB, address our supporters and sympathizers, as well as all Bulgarian citizens.
Our political declaration today is a response to the incessant rough speculations and the opposition on the topic of “Coalition intentions of GERB to BSP” in recent months.
At the last congress of the BSP, the chairman of the party announced that the opposition refused to Prime Minister Borissov “to be fed with posts and to be tamed”.
We see the talk of a coalition between GERB and BSP primarily as a search for an occasion to settle scores within the BSP. In order to deal with the political discontent and the tension among his fellow party members, the chairman of the BSP provokes extraordinary and revolutionary situations.
At the beginning of the work of the current parliament, we offered the chairmanship in the National Assembly to the BSP, but not with the idea of ”taming” the opposition, but because we have a statesmanlike approach and nationally responsible behavior in connection with the upcoming Bulgarian presidency of the Council of the EU.
The leadership of the BSP claims that there are people in the BSP who enter into collaboration with GERB. Such suspicions are absolutely false, they make political dialogue between the ruling party and the opposition impossible, as well as undermine our efforts for a successful and trouble-free conduct of the Bulgarian presidency.
Bulgaria’s presidency of the Council of the EU is a national cause and a new base for the unification of Bulgarian society – we at GERB do not want to miss this chance.
Obviously, the BSP is working for the presidency to fail under the management of GERB, even at the cost of losing national prestige and policies important to the people.
We at GERB have stated more than once that there have never been talks about joint management with the BSP. Such a coalition is impossible. From the rostrum of our highest political forum today, we categorically state that we do not wish to form a coalition with the BSP, not only today, but also in the future, because:
1. we have irreconcilable differences in our visions for the development of Bulgaria;
2. we have different ideas about political morality and values;
3. we are the modern European party in our country, whose voice is heard in Europe.
We at GERB accept as our main political task the protection of the principles of the democratic rule of law. We declare our political determination to preserve and develop the democratic, European model of statehood, through which we can effectively solve the problems of our security, institutional and legal order. This requires wisdom and the will to oppose anti-democratic tendencies.
We realize how great our responsibility is to defend the ideal of a free, democratic and European Bulgaria.
Because GERB is the Bulgarian political party that guarantees real participation of our country in the formation of the European agenda. We propose an active Bulgarian presidency of the EU, as well as engagement of the EU institutions with the support of sustainable policies in the interest of Bulgaria”, says the declaration of GERB.
