The 20th edition of Nuit Blanche, Saturday in Paris and in 13 cities of its metropolis, is a meeting between art and sport in the perspective of the 2024 Olympics. Discover five things not to miss.

Invited to “put the bodies in motion”, the two artistic directors, Sandrina Martins and Mourad Merzouki, have made the long-distance hiking trail that surrounds the capital, the GR75, created in view of the candidacy of Paris to obtain these Olympics, the backbone of their programming with three northern routes , west, east and a center.

The latter will go from the Trocadéro to the Museum of Modern Art, and allows you to see the Arc de triomphe packed for the last time and to discover the Les Envoûtés exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art. Mourad Merzouki will launch the festivities from the Town Hall with a “choreographic walk” mixing hip-hop and classical dance.

East course

From the Porte de Vincennes in the 12th arrondissement to the Grands Moulins, in the 13th arrondissement, this route allows you to discover the CIPALE velodrome, a site built during the 1924 Olympic Games and which until 1974 received the arrival of the Tour de France. Spectators are invited to discover the work of Laurent Perbos who tried to reproduce a tennis court that imitates clay, on the steps of the BNF.

Another discovery, a participatory orchestra at the Léo Lagrange stadium in the 12th arrondissement. The Orchester de spectacle de Montreuil is an orchestra bringing together professionals and amateurs. “With Hymnes en jeux, this orchestra performs national anthems re-orchestrated by composers of various musical styles”, specifies a press release from the Nuit blanche.

West course

This route goes from Balard, in the 15th arrondissement, to Porte d’Auteuil and follows the GR75 for nearly 4.5 km.

To see in particular, a Roller Dance Party: the Roll Bounce by Sonikem to relive the crazy atmospheres of American Roller Parties. Alongside professional dancers, everyone is invited to bring back their skates.

North course

6 km long, this route goes from the Porte d’Aubervilliers to the Porte des Lilas via the Saint Denis canal. Not to be missed is the performance “Armor” by artist Kubra Khademi. This Afghan artist wanted to denounce street harassment in Kabul in 2015.

The artist “walked around dressed in steel armor covering and magnifying the parts of her body daily targeted by the remarks and touches of passers-by: her breasts, her buttocks, her belly”.

After 8 minutes, she had to stop her performance in the face of hostility from passers-by and take refuge abroad. This performance will be presented at 6b in Saint-Denis.

Because the event does not take place only in Paris but also in 13 cities of its metropolis.
