Now another considerable sum will be added to Harry’s account, namely an inheritance that he will receive from his great-grandmother. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a significant fortune accumulated through various sources of income. Their net worth was estimated in 2020 by Businessinsider.de was first estimated at at least 30 million dollars (about 27 million euros). However, that was before they entered into lucrative deals, such as a contract with Netflix worth 100 million dollars (about 90 million euros) and a podcast deal with Spotify worth 30 million dollars. The Spotify deal, however, was not paid out in full due to the early end of the collaboration.

Meghan already had a fortune of around five million dollars (around 4.5 million euros) from her acting career before her wedding. Meghan is also said to have received an advance of 700,000 dollars (around 627,000 euros) for her children’s book “The Bench”. Harry inherited ten million pounds (around twelve million euros) after the death of his mother Princess Diana (†36, 1997) and has now also received eight million pounds (around 9.5 million euros) from a trust fund of his great-grandmother, the Queen Mother Elizabeth (†101, 2002), when he turned 40 on September 15. Harry also received a 20 million dollar (around 18 million euros) advance for his book “Spare”; all proceeds from the book will be donated to charity.

It is unclear exactly how much wealth Harry and Meghan have today. Although the couple has a considerable income, they also have considerable expenses. In 2020, they bought a property in Santa Barbara for 14.65 million US dollars (about 13.11 million euros) and paid back 2.4 million pounds (about 2.85 million euros) for the renovation of Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, which was originally financed with taxpayers’ money. Harry and Meghan paid five million down on the house in Montecito, which leaves them with a mortgage of just under ten million.

Harry and Meghan are also funding their own security, as they have to forego official protection from the royal family. Meghan is also investing in new business areas, such as her lifestyle and alcohol brand American Riviera OrchardTheir luxury spending is often criticized, especially regarding the extensive use of private jets, which are also notoriously very expensive.
