The Galaxy S23 series of flagship smartphones, which now use the latest processors from Qualcomm in all markets, have the upper hand in terms of 5G connectivity over last generation, according to measurements by Ookla.

The new Snapdragon X70 modem, which according to Qualcomm is the first of its kind with built-in artificial intelligence, seems to have the ability to create conditions for higher transmission speed, signal availability, lower latency, but also higher energy efficiency thanks to adaptive antenna settings.

Ookla compared the 5G speeds of a range of Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S23 smartphones across carriers in several markets, and in the vast majority of cases, the Galaxy S23 series smartphones scored better. Compared to the Galaxy S22 series equipped with the Qualcomm X65 modem, they achieved higher speeds and lower latency. In some cases, the differences were larger, in other cases smaller, but taking into account all the data, this year’s flagships from Samsung are simply better in terms of 5G connection quality.
