What kind of books are given away in the ‘Libros pa la banda’ programme?

The Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Inclusion and Social Security, in collaboration with the Fondo de Cultura Económica (FCE)between 13 and 23 December will give away 256,186 books to around 25,000 young people from 61 districts of the 16 mayors in the country’s capital.

The program ‘Libros pa’la Banda’, in which they also participate bookstores EDUCAL, will cover the 16 municipalities of Mexico City to bring reading closer 224 titles young people between the ages of 12 and 20.

With this program “it is expected to benefit more than 25,000 young people between the ages of 12 and 20”, reported the local SC, a body which acquired titles from the collections, Through the Looking Glass, Classics, Popular Collection, Graphic Novel, Science for All, The Specials of A la Orilla del Viento and Vientos del Pueblo, from the Fondo de Cultura Económica (FCE).

Two colonies per day

Libros pa’la banda will simultaneously serve two neighborhoods a day, until December 23, at 10, 12 and 14, starting with Miguel Hidalgo and Venustiano Carranza, Wednesday December 14 corresponded to Xochimilco and Milpa Alta.

On the 15th he arrived in Tláhuac and Tlalpan, on Friday the 16th in Álvaro Obregón and Cuauhtémoc, on the 17th in Iztapalapa and Cuajimalpa, and on Sunday the 18th in Iztacalco and Gustavo A. Madero.

The second one week of the program begins on December 19 in Mayors Benito Juárez and Coyoacán, the 20 Tlalpan and Álvaro Obregón repeat at different points, while on Wednesday 21 Azcapotzalco and Magdalena Contreras will be present.

Finally, on Thursday 22nd Coyoacán and Gustavo A. Madero will receive Still books; to conclude, on Friday 23 it will be the turn of Gustavo A. Madero and Iztapalapa again.

SC capital invite parents to bring their younger children closer to books, as well as the older population to absorb the reading.
