Among the services of on-demand television and DTT of the most popular operators right now we find Movistar Plus+who has been suffering a important renovation since last summer with an updated content platform with a more premium focus.
Last February 2024, Movistar Plus+ also announced the launch of a new function for UHD decoders, both in WiFi version like the one that connects only by cable Ethernet to TV and that was already present in access from the web.
This was the incorporation of the option to create different user profiles directly on the decoder, thus expanding the possibilities of use and personalization of our way of accessing the service.
What is the pink button on the Movistar Plus+ menu and how to use it
In principle, the profiles had a small dedicated space in the menu that went unnoticedboth in access through the decoder and if we did from the web on devices such as a PC.
However, this discreet and inconspicuous appearance has changed in recent weeks towards a vivid pink button which is much more attractive so that we always keep it in mind in our regular use of the TV platform.
That is, the new pink button that we can find in the menu is the direct access to user profile management from Movistar Plus+. And, what are these user profiles for and what do they offer me?
Well, as in other streaming services, to personalize the contents what we see and our viewing preferences. The idea is that we can have a different profile for each family member and that each person, every time they access to view their favorite content, identifies themselves with said profile in order to better manage what they have been viewing.
We can create up to 4 different profiles additional to the basic one called “Home profile” that exists by default and that we cannot delete, thus being able to customize a specific one for each member of the family (if we are more at home or want to create more additional profiles, in principle we will not be able to do so).
To create them you just have to press the “Menu” key of the remote control and move through the main tab to search for the pink logo that refers to the “home profile”which is located next to the one with the magnifying glass.
Once on it, click on the remote control and a menu will appear where it will be possible to create new user profiles, with the name and logo that we want from a series of options available between series produced by the platform, Universal Pictures characters or soccer team emblems, among others.
What are user profiles for in Movistar Plus+?
The “Home profile” is the basic one we have by default, it appears on all devices and collects all the content that has been viewed from the decoder and the consumption that has been made from that same profile on any other device.
The profiles created by us will have the section personalized “My list” and the street “I’m watching”as well as series monitoring, content recommendations and the last viewed channels, which will be different depending on the activity carried out in each of the profiles:
- “I’m watching” and tracking series episodes: will be associated with each profile, showing the contents that have started playing, but have not finished, to continue viewing them from the point where we left them.
- “For me” and other personalized recommendations:They are personalized content recommendations based on the tastes of each profile.
- “My list”:Here, for each of the profiles, all the content that has been added to “My List” is displayed from the content tab by pressing the add to “My List” button.
- “Last viewed channels” : shows the list of the last channels that have been viewed from that specific profile, but not from the general one.
Recordings and rentals son common to all profilesregardless of the profile in which they are carried out (except in the case of children’s profiles as we will see below).
There is also the option to create a special children’s profilefor the little ones in the house, so that only content for children under 12 years of age will be shown on the channels Baby TV, Disney Junior, Nick Jr, Nickelodeon, Dreamworks, Disney Channel, Boing y Clanhaving to enter the parental PIN if we want to switch to another normal profile.
By default, this parental PIN is “1111”, although it can be changed by accessing the parental PIN section of the decoder and entering a new numerical combination. In it UHD decoderthe profile is identified with the text “Children” below the avatar and when we create it, a message will be displayed indicating the restrictions on the content.
What happens if I want to use another non-child profile later? Well, to get out of this mode of limited content it is necessary to enter the parental pin or Movistar Plus+ password on devices.
Finally, it should be noted that, although all the content shown to these children’s profiles is specially controlled and selected for the little ones in the house, in the UHD decoder it is possible to access content from other platforms such asNetflix, Disney+etc., in these cases the contents in said applications are not limited.
